Project Title: Cellphone to Vehicle OBD II Interface

Project Type: Individual electrical engineering, embedded software, Symbian OS software

Project Status: Completed, being commercialized by AutoMob.

Project Description: After the non-contact wireless voltage sensing project was completed, I began working on this project with Professor Sanjay Sarma. It plugs into the OBD II diagnostic port on light-duty vehicles made after 1996 and relays vital information from the engine computer to custom software on a cellular telephone.

This software logged data from various engine sensors and an onboard accelerometer to determine the operating state and condition of the vehicle. The concepts generated in this research are patent-pending, and a local startup (for which I am on the technical advisory board) plans to license the technology from MIT.

In the future, I may resume this project and examine failure prediction though similar logging systems.
